Through a partnership with Microsoft’s Kinect, Emerging Experiences helped Bayer’s Innovation Lab to envision the measurement capabilities, customer experience benefits and product possibilities within their next generation of Custom Fit kiosks.

From being on the Advisory Board for Microsoft Kinect, our team understood the parameters and possibilities that the technology could deliver. Within our innovation workshops and through rapid prototypes, we realized that the technology could be more beneficial, by measuring other leg properties to assist in fitting braces.

As our teams co-developed intellectual property around the measurement possibility using Kinect, we moved closer to a pilot and soon were inside a few hundred stores. The advanced computer vision techniques and algorithms made for an easy product recommendation that tailor fits ankle and/ or knee braces based on the users lifestyle, injury type and measurement. The pilot which is rolling into mass production will soon be assisting wellness at over 5,000 stores.

Co-developing products with Bayer’s innovation team alongside Microsoft has been extremely rewarding. The speed at which we were all able to ideate and prototype was incredible and a second phase is already in progress.
